Because against my better judgment, I'm starting to fall for these beastly princes. If I can help them do that, they'll set me free. They must find their mates in order to break the curse. I have to win my freedom, and that means making a bargain with them. I had no idea I'd end up imprisoned by four sexy fae who turn into beasts at night. And when he gets imprisoned, I'll do anything to save him. When my father wanders into the enchanted realm of the fae, I know I have to go after him. An enchanted world of fae, magic, and danger. It's like realising you and your partner share Thomas Jefferson as a common ancestor.Four beastly princes. Tbh not that weird when you realise there are couples who are much more closely related and never know. Also we know for a fact that Mia and Nicholas were probably 6th cousins of sorts. Maybe Genovian law meant that if the remaining direct heir refused the title, then the Renaldi name was no longer eligible for the crown and therefore Nicholas was not allowed to claim, even if he was more eligible than the Van Trokens. The only other Heirs were the Van Trokens and the only explanation I can think of that would put them ahead of Nicholas in the first movie and after him in the second would be the fact that Nicholas is technically a Renaldi via his mother and every other ancestor was male. The reason why his uncle wanted him to seduce Mia was so she cancelled her wedding and then Nicholas would have a clear run for King. While he does have a claim to the throne, his claim is not as solid as Mia's because her father was the Heir apparent after her uncle abdicated. Presumably the next ancestor was not the first born son. The reason I have for this is Mia was the direct heir and heir presumptive (before the law changed to allow non-married women to be heir apparent), while Nicholas was only an heir because his great-great-great-great-great-great grandfather was king. Okay I'm like 6 years late but if they married before Nicholas revoked his claim, Mia would still be Queen while Nicholas would just be a Prince Consort. So, Amelia marrying Nicholas is politically sound and will help in the future should von Troken make any moves to take the throne from her. If Lone Star is heir to a throne, their marriage could complicate succession of both kingdoms unless they are merged into one through this marriage. In Spaceballs Princess Vespa of Druidia marries (newly found) Prince Lone Star. This puts Anna in the position of having to produce the next heir, and an heir of commoner ancestry is going to have problems.Įven outside of Disney, there is a problem royal marriage. Queen Elsa is going to have a difficult time finding a consort because of her magical ability. No matter how good hearted and heroic Eugene is, Rapunzel is going to have problems politically.įrozen has Princess Anna possibly marrying a commoner who is again an orphan who was raised by the non-human trolls. Tangled has Rapunzel marrying a commoner who is also an orphan and a thief. Snow White is a princess with her own claim to a throne, should her father be dead and his current wife deposed, so going off with the unnamed prince leaves her home kingdom with a vacant throne. Of all Disney films with princesses (animated and live action) marrying for love, this film has the most politically sound alliance, after Sleeping Beauty where the marriage was to make two kingdoms into one. Their children would have both the Renaldi and Devereaux claims to the throne, and if Amelia's heir marries a von Troken, the generation after would have an even stronger claim. It is a bit squishy when one considers Amelia and Nicholas are at least second cousins. So marrying Devereaux, who appears to have a stronger claim than von Troken, would strengthen Mia's position on the throne. He may have renounced his claim to the throne, however, from the first film we know Baron Siegfried von Troken may also have a claim. Actually, marrying Lord Nicholas Devereaux is a good political move.
